Artist's Description
This is a colorful original marker painting called "Praise & Worship 1," part of my "Church Ladies" series. The original painting is done with with pen, pencil and colored markers on paper.
Praise & Worship 001 depicts three women and a child during Sunday morning worship services. The little girl has a candy cane in her right hand, which she is clearly sizing up to the lady's red and white stripe outfit - much to her dismay.
"From Da Back Pew" are my observations of the heart and soul of folks in church -- in their Sunday Best, praising and feeling "the spirit" while other things dance through their heads. I love when people see my art, and paint their own stories in their minds.

About Stacey Torres
Born in Jamaica, NY, Stacey Torres is a Folk/Fauvist artist and writer living in the Midwest. Inspired by her Caribbean heritage, her primary focus are female portraits and lush garden landscapes, painted with an abundance of brilliant color using watercolor, oil pastels, acrylics and other mix media. A self-taught artist, Ms. Torres’ love of art began in early childhood. In the summer of 2014, she began to paint after a 45-year hiatus when her mother was dying from Alzheimer’s.
