African American Art - NAHIR, The Wise Man

The name NAHIR has origins in Hebrew. It means Clear and Bright.

My Nahir is a wise old man - his skin is the color of the earth in all it's glory, showing fields and rivers and rich minerals ... His eyes are not clouded nor dim - his light and wisdom shine on forever. He is NAHIR, THE WISE MAN.

My vision for Nahir came from a beautiful Sudanese man named Naheer. I drew him fierce and loving, all powerful like a lion, oozing with intelligence and dignity.

Nahir, The Wise Man ... Is a unique, one-of-a-kind portrait, drawn by me using colored markers and pencils on heavy 11x14 acrylic paper. He is a man for all of my seasons.
