Artist's Description
"Mona" - Painting of a beautiful mature woman of color, with full, curly salt and pepper hair, lying on a divan in her seaside villa. In the background you can see a little patio leading to the beach.
MONA is a woman of a certain age who seeks refuge and peace in a wonderful place far, far away from the drama and stress of her every day life. She wonders daily, why, at this stage of her life, is she still so troubled and unhappy? Why?
I painted this on heavy 9" x 12" 110 lb. acrylic paper, using colored markers and water.

this painting is full of the things I love to dream about..I love the way out.. the escape of the background to get to the water and the beach..I immediately feel the breeze and smell the ocean.. I look through the glass like surface of the crystal clear aqua water..I can see tiny fishes flitting in the surf..the first thing that struck me about this work is the aqua tile..I love all of the colors and patterns..this is food for my eyes as well as other senses..wonderfully composed painting..balanced well..
Stacey Torres replied:
Thank you so much, Barbara! I'm totally flattered. I think (for me, anyway), one of my biggest goals as an artist is for my work to bring some kind of joy or peace to the viewer - for them to see something in it that perhaps I have as well. I just sold the original about 2 weeks ago. I guess Mona's pretty special. Thanks again!
